(Richmond, VA – April 27) On Monday, April 27th Vcall® webcast President Obama’s 45-minute speech to the National Academy of Sciences at the opening of their 146th annual meeting held at NAS Headquarters, Washington, DC.
The webcast was historic as it was the first virtual webcast completed for President Obama following his instructions to his staff to begin holding virtual meetings in lieu of face-to-face meetings. Mr. Obama announced these guidelines as part of his cost-saving initiative during his first full cabinet meeting held Monday, April 20th. The webcast was streamed simultaneously as audio and video to internal members and invitees of NAS and as an audio-only stream to the general public. The video was later made available as an on-demand replay on the NAS website (www.nas.edu) and to the general public.
"We are honored to be part of President Obama's push toward virtual communication technologies and transparency in government," said CEO Michael Pepe. "Vcall has been a leader in this area, having webcast events featuring President Bush, the King of Saudi Arabia and other world figures. President Obama's vision of making virtual events a normal business practice in the Federal Government is one we welcome and are eager to support with our leading edge streaming and webcasting services."
